02_2017 1,000 electric buses is to ride on Polish roads by 2021

Letters of intent in this regard was signed on February 20 by representatives of the Ministry of Development, Ministry of Energy, Polish Development Fund, the National Research and Development Centre, the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management and the local governments of the 41 Polish cities and municipalities, representing nearly 45 percent bus fleet in Poland.

The signatories of the agreement already declared in their applications the desire to purchase a total of 780 electric buses by 2020. This corresponds to 16 percent. of their total bus fleet, which is now 5 thousand. pieces. It is also 7 percent. in relation to the total number of city buses in Poland (approx. 11.5 thousand. pieces). The initiative took their auspices of the Association of Polish Cities.

On March 30 a conference organized by PZPM together with the Ministry of Development, Ministry of Energy and Polish Development Fund, during which, among others, will be presented the specific objectives of the program in the light of the profitability of investments for local governments and the necessary infrastructure conditions. At the conference some offers of bus manufacturers will also be presented for the authorities interested.
