ACEM statistical release - Registrations in key European markets during the nine first months of 2023 show motorcycles on the rise and mopeds reducing

New motorcycle registrations in five of the largest European markets (i.e. France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK) reached 873,985 units during the first nine months of 2023. This represents an increase of
approximately 11.8% compared to the same period in 2022 (781,839 units).
Motorcycle registration volumes significantly increased in Italy (271,552 units, +19.4% year-on-year) and Spain (154,019 units, +13.4%), with Germany (190,490 units, +9.6%) and France (168,118 units, +8.7%) also
showing an upward trend. Volumes remained broadly stable in the UK (89,806 units, -0.4%).
Moped registrations reached a total volume of 155,098 units in the six European moped markets monitored by ACEM (i.e. Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain). This registration volume
represents a reduction of 25.0% in comparison to last year (206,927 units). The reduction is widespread in all monitored countries although less so in Belgium (-2.7%) and Spain (-2.8%).

Commenting on the current situation of the sector, Antonio Perlot , ACEM Secretary General, said:
“Strong growth of the European market in the first nine months highlights consumers’ sustained long-term interest in powered two-wheelers, both for daily commuting and for leisure. Early figures for October confirm
the positive trend for motorcycles, with moped volumes partially recovering”.

Jakub Faryś - President of the Polish Automotive Industry Association is adding:
22,041 new single-track vehicles have been registered in Poland since the beginning of 2023. Compared to 2022, this was an increase of 7.2% (+1 472 units). Out of the total number of single-track vehicles, 75% were motorbikes: 16,423 units (+13.4% y/y). Mopeds came in at 5 618 (-7.6%).

PZPM - ACEA - New registrations of PC by fuel - October 2023

New car registrations: +14.6 % in October ; battery electric 14. 2 % market share

In October 2023 , the EU car market expanded significantly, with new registrations surging by 14.6% to 855,484 units. This marked the fifteenth consecutive month of growth, with notable double-digit percentage increases in three of the largest markets: France (+21.9%), Italy (+20%), and Spain (+18.1%). However, the German car market reported a more modest year-on-year increase of 4.9%.
Ten months into 2023, new car registrations were up by 16.7%, totalling almost nine million units. All markets grew during this ten-month period except for Hungary. Notably, the four largest markets: Italy (+20.4%), Spain (+18.5%), France (+16.5%), and Germany (+13.5%) contributed to this positive trend.

E-MOBILITY INDEX 10 2023

According to data from the end of October 2023, a total of 52 327 passenger and commercial all-electric vehicles (BEVs) were registered in Poland.
