Production of motor vehicles and engines for motor vehicles in Poland according to CSO data - MAY 2023
MAY vehicle production data published by the CSO indicate that the results for the last month remained at a similar level as in April and remain higher compared to the same month in 2022. In the passenger car segment, production increased by 1.6 thousand cars, in the commercial vehicles and trucks segment it was an increase of 5,762 units, while bus production increased by 79 units.
Production of internal combustion car engines remained unchanged compared to the same month last year.
In May, the number of passenger cars was 25,200 units, 1,600 higher than a year earlier. (+6.8% y/y). Compared to April, the increase was 4.1% m/m. Cumulatively for January-May 2023, production increased by 23.5% y/y to 122,000 cars. However, the benchmark was very low.
In the reported period, truck production continued its upward trend, reaching 24,698 vehicles. The result achieved is similar to April but higher than in May 2022 by 5,762 units. (+30.4% y/y). In the first five months of 2023, the growth was 68.2% y/y with 122,920 units produced.
In May, 433 buses left the Polish plants, 79 units more than in May 2022. (+22.3% y/y) Compared to April this year, it is slightly less (-1.1%m/m). A total of 2,166 units were produced from January to May this year, which is an increase of 12.2%.
The production of engines for motor vehicles amounted to 222,000 units, 22.7% more than in the same month last year. Compared to the previous month, this is an increase of 12,000 units. (+5,7%). Cumulatively, 1,057 thousand engines rolled off the assembly line in January-May 2023, 31.3% more than in the same period in 2022. Diesel engines account for more than 80% of this number.
