Published: 05-05-2021
In the first quarter of this year, for the first time since the beginning of 2020, it succeeded to stop the decline in vehicle registrations in Poland. During this period, 117.9 thousand new passenger cars were registered on the Vistula - 9.5% more than in the same time of 2020. Sales growth was also recorded in the segments of light commercial vehicles (+35.1%), heavy commercial vehicles (+58.6%), trailers and semi-trailers (+73.1%) and Motorbikes, with 12.8% increase in registrations year-on-year. Again, a very high pace of growth was recorded in the segment of passenger cars with alternative drives - in the first quarter of this year 35.6 thousand vehicles of this type were registered in Poland, 129.5% more than a year earlier. However, bad data is coming from the vehicle production. During the first three months of 2021, 126.5 thousand vehicles were produced in Poland - which means - 15.1% decrease year-on-year.
The report is out of series of quarterly reports aimed to present current trends in the Polish automotive industry, including automotive retail, manufacturing and financial services. Analysis are based on the most recent registrations, statistical and market data and is a result of a joint endeavour by the Polish Automotive Industry Association and KPMG in Poland.
