Used Passenger Car Import to Poland 09 2024

We present data related to import of used cars to Poland based on Ministry of Finance and CEP

September: +15.2% y/y ; January-September +22.0% y/y
In September 2024, imports of used passenger cars into Poland (74,241 units) accelerated (+15.2% y/y).
Year-to-date, 666,033 units have arrived, 22% more than in the same period of 2023.
An increasing number of newer cars are being imported to Poland.
Cars up to 4 years old now comprise 9.8% of the share, compared to 7.7% in the same period of 2023. At the end of August this year, it was 9.7%. In the 4- to 10-year age bracket, it is 34.8% against 30.1% last year and against 34.7% a month earlier.
Meanwhile, cars older than 10 years accounted for 55.4% of the share in the total number of cars imported this year at the end of September, compared to 62.2% last year and 55.7% at the end of August 2024.

Motor Vehicle Production & combustion engines for vehicles in Poland in AUGUST 2024

We present the results on PRODUCTION OF MOTOR VEHICLES and ENGINES FOR  VEHICLES in POLAND in AUGUST 2024, based on data from the Central Statistical Office (CSO)

In August this year - the results of PRODUCTION OF MOTOR VEHICLES and ENGINES FOR MECHANICAL VEHICLES in Poland were very poor for a second consecutive month.
The lower results were partly influenced by seasonality as well as the termination and reduction of production and restructuring at many automotive plants in Poland. However, the reported results are slightly higher than a month earlier.

Passenger Cars:

y/y change: August -57.4% ; January - August: -15,4%
In August 2024, passenger car production saw a very low result of 8.3 thousand units sold, which means a huge 57.4% decrease compared to last August.
The outcome is slightly higher by 1 thousand units than a month earlier. (+13.7%m/m). Considering the period since 2001, since when PZPM has been keeping statistics, only in 2002 fewer cars came off the production lines, i.e. 4 thousand units.
During the 8 months of this year, 167.6 thousand cars were produced, by 30.5 thousand units. (-15.4% y/y) less than in the same period of 2023. At the end of July this year, the decrease was 10.8% y/y .

Commercial Vehicles (incl. LCV) Trailer & Semi-Trailers

y/y change: August +13.8% y/y; January-August: +13.8% y/y
In August 2024, 22,512 trucks (including road tractors for pulling semi-trailers) left Polish plants by 2,728 units. (+13.8% y/y) more than in August 2023. The result produced is also higher than July's by 3,619 units. (+19.2% m/m).
A total of 225,047 vehicles were produced in January-August 2024, up by 27,319 units. (+13.8% y/y). Despite the large drop in July, truck production remains in positive territory.

Buses & coaches (for transporting 10 people and more):

y/y change: August +25.5% y/y; January-August: -12.4% y/y
In August 2024r, 345 public transport vehicles left Polish plants, by 70 units. (+25.5% y/y) more than in the same month of 2023. The reported result is also higher by 101 units. (+41.4% m/m) than in July this year.
In the first eight months of this year, 2,928 buses were built in Poland. This is less than in the same period of 2023 by 416 units. (-12.4% y/y).

Combustion engines for vehicles

y/y change: July -18.0% y/y; January-July: -5.8% y/y
In July, 159,000 engines for motor vehicles were produced, accounting for an 18% decrease compared to July 2023. Compared to the previous month, production is 35 thousand lower. (-18% m/m)
After 7 months of this year, the achieved result (1,395 thousand units) is lower by 86 thousand units and stands for a 5.8% year-on-year decline. At the end of the first half of the year, the decline was -4%.
