Remembering Ivan Hodáč – A Leader, Visionary, and Friend of PZPM

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Ivan Hodáč, who served as Secretary General of the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) from 2001 to 2013.

Ivan was undoubtedly one of the most influential figures in the European decision-making process, and the Financial Times recognized him as one of the most influential personalities in Brussels. 
He was a wonderful and kind person, a great friend of PZPM . During his tenure, our organization was admitted to ACEA , marking an important milestone in our history. 
We extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing and working with him.

Commercial Vehicle Registrations JUNE 2026

The market for new commercial vehicles over 3.5 tonnes GVW continues to maintain strong momentum, recording double-digit growth rates that translate into high registration volumes.

In June, 4,525 new commercial vehicles were registered, representing an increase of 21.7% year-on-year . This was not only the highest result ever recorded for June, but also the best monthly result of 2026 so far. The previous all-time record was set in August 2023 , when 4,243 units were registered.

Growth was recorded across almost all truck segments. The strongest increase was seen in truck chassis registrations , which rose by 24% compared with June 2025. Truck tractors , the key segment of the heavy truck market, increased by 14% year-on-year. The only declining category was special-purpose vehicles , which fell by 12.6% to 97 units .

The bus segment also delivered an outstanding performance. Registrations more than doubled compared with June 2025, increasing by 136% . This was not only a record result for June, but also the highest monthly bus registration volume recorded in 2026.

Overall, 4,044 new trucks were registered in June, up 15.1% year-on-year . At the same time, 481 new buses were registered, representing a remarkable increase of 135.8% compared with the previous year.

Since the beginning of 2026 , a total of 21,058 new commercial vehicles above 3.5 tonnes GVW have been registered, up 29.8% year-on-year , including:

  • 18,922 trucks (+26%)
  • 2,136 buses (+78%)

The 9th edition of Fleet Electric Day, one of Poland’s leading fleet industry events, brought together fleet managers, automotive manufacturers and mobility experts in Warsaw. The agenda combined a conference, expert discussions and test drives, focusing on fleet transformation, new regulations and the digitalization of vehicle management.

A key contribution came from Jakub Faryś, President of the Polish Automotive Industry Association (PZPM) , who addressed the impact of European climate policies – including the Fit for 55 package – on electromobility and corporate fleets. He emphasized the accelerating regulatory pressure, the need for strategic adaptation, and the growing importance of long-term planning in fleet electrification.

We present data of production of motor vehicles and engines for motor vehicles in Poland according to CSO data - MAY 2026

From January to May 2026, automotive production in Poland showed mixed trends across segments: 113.6 thousand passenger cars, 138.2 thousand trucks and road tractors, 2,885 buses, and 916.5 thousand motor vehicle engines were produced.Compared with the same period of 2025, passenger car and engine production declined, while truck and bus output increased; at the same time, alternative powertrains continued to gain importance in passenger car manufacturing.
