In 2023, 475,000 new passenger cars were registered in Poland - 13.2% more than in 2022.
Better sales results were also recorded in vans, trucks, buses and motorbikes. Last year, sales of alternative-fuel passenger cars totalled 217,600 units, up 35.4% on the previous year. This is not only a result of changing consumer preferences, but also an opportunity for manufacturers and suppliers to adjust their offers even more to the growing interest of ecological solutions. According to a report by PZPM and KPMG in Poland "Automotive industry, Q1/2024 edition", the previous year was also a better one for automotive factories in Poland, which produced 612.9 thousand vehicles - 26.7% more than in 2022.

Overview of current registrations
New motorcycle registrations in five of the largest European markets (i.e. France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK) reached 1.049.898 units at the end of 2023. This represents an increase of approximately 10.5% compared to the same period in 2022 (950,437 units).
Motorcycle registration volumes significantly increase in Italy (320,186 units, +18% year-on-year) and Spain (201,115 units, +13.6%). Germany (213,801 units, +7.2%) and France (206,731 units, +6.9%) also showed an upward trend, whilst volumes remained broadly stable in UK (108,065 units, -1.2%).
Moped registrations reached a total volume of 193,145 units in the six European moped markets monitored by ACEM (i.e. Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain). This registration volume represents a reduction of 24.5% in comparison to last year (255.909 units). The reduction is peaking in the Netherlands (34.027 units, -45.1%) and Germany (17.627 units, -40.5%), followed by France (75.426 units, -19.1%) and Italy (18.737 units, -13.3%), with one-digit reductions in Belgium (-3.8%) and Spain (-5.2%).

In Poland, the year 2023 closed with 38,617 new single-track vehicles registered. Compared to 2022, this was an increase of 9.3% (+3,293 units). Higher results were last recorded in 2020 and before 2018. Of the total number of unicycles, 72% were motorbikes: 27,756 units. (+16.1% y/y) and it is these that determine the positive result of the entire group, with the record result achieved by them. Mopeds, on the other hand, came in at 10,861 (-4.8%). And just as motorbikes are breaking previous records, mopeds are becoming increasingly marginalised. Their result is the lowest since 2005 (the oldest available data).
