Production of motor vehicles and engines for motor vehicles in Poland according to CSO data - MAY 2023

According to the latest data published by the Central Statistical Office (CSO), production of motor vehicles in Poland recorded mixed results in JULY this year, compared to the same month in 2022.
Production of passenger cars declined gently by 1.1% year-on-year.
Production of heavy trucks and tractors saw an increase of 53.6% y/y compared to July last year.
Buses recorded figures lower by 4.2% y/y compared to July 2022.
The production of internal combustion engines increased by 12.1% y/y in comparison with the same month of 2022.

PASSENGER CARS
Change y/y: July -1.1% y/y ; January-July: +22.4% y/y
In July 2023, the number of produced passenger cars totalled 26,100 units, which is 3,000 cars less than a year earlier (-1.1% y/y). Compared to June this year, it was 1.8 thousand cars less (-6.5% m/m). Cumulatively, in January-July 2023, production increased by 15.1 thousand cars (+20.6% y/y) to 177.8 thousand units. The result achieved is slightly higher than the one recorded in 2020 and 2021. However, it is worth noting that last year's base for comparison was very low.
LCV and CV over 3.5t including truck tractors:
Change y/y: July: +53.6% y/y; January-July: +61.5% y/y
Truck production continued its upward trend, with a spectacular result of 27,350 vehicles produced, 53.6% y/y more than in July 2022. This is the seventh consecutive month with a year-on-year increase in production. The result produced in July is 324 units. (-1.2%) lower than in June.
Between January and July 2023, 177 944 vehicles left Polish plants. This is more than in the same period of 2022 by 67 758 units. (+61.5% y/y).
VEHICLES for PUBLIC TRANSPORT
Change y/y July: -4.2% y/y; January-July: +9.0% y/y
In July 2023, 363 buses left Polish factories, 16 units less than in the same month of 2022. (-4.2% y/y). The result is also lower than in June by 157 units. (-30.2% m/m).
During the first seven months of 2023, 3 049 buses were produced, up by 9.0% y/y. This is more by 253 buses than in the same period last year.

COMBUSTION ENGINES FOR VEHICLES
Change y/y July: +12.1% y/y ; Jan-July: +28.6% y/y
In July 2023, 194,000 engines for motor vehicles were produced in Polish plants, 21,000 more (+12.1% y/y) than in the same month last year. The noted result is lower than that achieved in June this year by 36 thousand units. (+3.6% m/m).  Cumulatively, 1 481 thousand engines were produced in January-July 2023, 28.6% y/y more than in the first seven months of 2022, including 1 235 thousand diesel engines and 246 thousand petrol engines.

20 days of September 2023 - new registrations PC, LCV, CV and PTW

After 20 days of September this year , registrations of all types of vehicles except heavy trucks increased recording double-digit increases. Heavy trucks ended with a double-digit decline in sales.
In the period under review, 22 382 passenger cars were registered, 16.3% more y/y than in the same month last year and 6.5% more m/m than in the same period last month. Light commercial vehicle registrations increased by 16.8% y/y to 2,560 units, slightly less than in the 20 days of August (-0.2%). Sales of new heavy trucks over 3.5t this time with a large fall of 68% y/y with 1,135 vehicles registered. Compared to the first 20 days of August, this is down by 70.3% m/m.
Unicycles significantly improved their results: Motorbikes: +32.9% y/y, Scooters:+12.9% y/y.                                                                                                                                                               
In the first 20 days of September, the following were registered:
Cars:
Passenger cars: 22,382pc.   (+16.3% y/y)
LCV light commercials: 2,560 units. (+16.8% y/y)
trucks over 3.5t: 1,135 units.  (-37.2% y/y)
Motorcycles:
motorbikes: 1,376 units. (+32.9% y/y)
mopeds: 772 units. (+12.9% y/y)

New car registrations: +15,2% in July, battery electric 13,6% market share

In July 2023 , the EU car market continued its growth trajectory, expanding by 15.2% –the twelfth consecutive month of growth. New car registrations reached 851,156 units as the bloc recovers from last year's component shortages. Most markets posted solid growth, including the four largest: France (+19.9%),Germany (+18.1%), Spain (+10.7%) and Italy (+8.7%).

From January to July 2023 , new EU car registrations grew significantly (+17.6%), totalling 6.3 million units. Despite indications of the European automotive industry's recovery from pandemic-related supply disruptions, year-to-date volumes are still 22% lower than in 2019. There were double-digit percentage gains in most markets during this seven-month period, including the four largest: Spain (+21.9%), Italy (+20.9%), France (+15.8%), and Germany (+13.6%).
