PZPM - GUS Motor Vehicle & Combustion Engines Production - APRIL 2026

We present the results on PRODUCTION OF MOTOR VEHICLES and ENGINES FOR MECHANICAL VEHICLES in POLAND in APRIL 2026, based on data from the Central Statistical Office (CSO)'

PASSENGER CARS

All types of powertrains (total)
April 2026: 21.1 thousand units (-23.7% y/y)
January–April 2026: 91.0 thousand units (-5.4% y/y)

Including: passenger cars with internal combustion engines (ICE)
April: 6.2 thousand units (-32.2% y/y)
January–April: 24.9 thousand units (-25.0% y/y)

Including: passenger cars with other types of powertrains (electric, hybrid)
April: 14.9 thousand units (-19.5% y/y)
January–April: 66.1 thousand units (-0.3% y/y)

Production structure
April 2026: 29% – internal combustion engines; 71% – other powertrains
January–April 2026: 27% – internal combustion engines; 73% – other powertrains

Despite declines in production volumes both monthly and cumulatively, a clear shift toward alternative powertrains continues.

TRUCKS AND ROAD TRACTORS FOR SEMI-TRAILERS

April: 28,437 units (+1.7% y/y)
January–April: 110,310 units (+1.5% y/y)

This segment remains stable, recording slight year-on-year growth.

BUSES & COACHES ( (for transporting 10 people and more)

April: 647 units (+10.0% y/y)
January–April: 2,324 units (+17.8% y/y)

Following a very strong March, the bus segment continues to post growth, improving the cumulative result.

ENGINES FOR MOTOR VEHICLES

Total engines
April: 186.7 thousand units (+2.3% y/y)
January–April: 735.1 thousand units (-3.3% y/y)

Including:

  • diesel engines:
    April: 186.5 thousand units
    January–April: 734.6 thousand units
  • petrol engines:
    April: 0.2 thousand units
    January–April: 0.5 thousand units

Petrol engine production remains marginal, while domestic engine production is based almost entirely on diesel units.

SUMMARY

April 2026 and the cumulative results show a mixed picture of the industry:

  • in the passenger car segment, the decline in production continues, alongside the entrenched dominance of alternative powertrains,
  • the truck segment remains relatively stable,
  • bus production is showing clear year-on-year growth,
  • engine production continues a downward trend on a cumulative basis, while petrol engine production has been almost completely phased out.
