Passenger car registrations: +3.2% first quarter of 2021; +87.3% in March
In March 2021
, registrations of new passenger cars in the European Union increased by 87.3%, the result of last year’s exceptionally low base of comparison caused by the strict COVID‐19 restrictions introduced in most markets in March 2020. 1,062,446 new cars were sold in the EU last month, compared to 567,253 during the same month in 2020.
During the first quarter of 2021
, EU demand for new cars grew by 3.2% to reach 2.6 million units registered in total.
