"Synergy for development"
On 12 December in Warsaw conference "Synergy for development" organized by the Polish Automotive Industry Association (PZPM) under the auspices of the Ministry of Economy was held. As noted the participants of the meeting, it was one of the most important debates on the automotive industry in recent years.
The conference officially opened the Deputy Minister of Economy Grazyna Henclewska and Mr. Ivan Hodac Secretary General of European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA). To the guests of the meeting the message also addressed MP Beata Bublewicz, informal patron of the program "Friendly Mobility".
The conference "Synergy for development" was attended by politicians (MP Janusz Piechocinski, Marek Wikiński), representatives of the automotive companies (Andrzej Korpak – GM Manufacturing, Witold Nowicki – Toyota Motor Poland, Alexander Vlaskamp – Scania Polska, Solange Olszewska – Solaris Bus and Coach, Kerstin Fahrenfeld-Etzmuß - Volkswagen Poznań Hubert Liwski - Yamaha, Adam Pietkiewicz - Polish Dealer's Group), and industry experts (Halina Brdulak - School of Economics, Adrian Furgalski - ZGD TOR, Andrzej Arendarski – National Economy Chamber, Andrzej Wojciechowski – ITS, Bartłomiej Morzycki - Partnership for Road Safety, Leszek Wieciech - POPiHN).
The conference was in the form three discussions panels dedicated to the themes consecutively: 1 importance of the automotive industry for the economy, 2 sustainable transport and safety, 3 new technologies and environmental protection. All the panelists emphasized that automotive is a strategic sector for the economy. However, despite the obvious and enormous benefits that flow from the growing automotive industry, they pointed to negligence on the part of state institutions, which hoping all will soon be liquidated.
On the basis of the panelists expression, 5 the most important postulates summarizing the debate were formulated. Our postulates indicate the best and easiest way which is a synergy between the automotive industry and the state - said Jakub Faryś, President PZPM - We will fight with the authorities for quick implementation these proposals for life - he added.
Postulates of the automotive industry::
1. May the power of the internal market will be in!
A strong and rapidly growing domestic market increases the chance of further investments of large corporations in our country. Meanwhile, in 2011 there was a collapse in the internal market - sold about 40 thousand fewer cars, which will release in the automotive industry and reduce state budget revenues by over 500 million zł.
2. Poles deserve to new cars!
Poland needs to renew the car park. An average Pole rides nearly 15-year-old car. It threatens our security, is harmful to the environment and leads to loss of state incomes. It is necessary to introduce the system of incentives and facilities conducive to the availability of new and newer vehicles.
3. Stop a leaking vehicle control system!
Diagnosticians must bear the greater personal responsibility for the performed checks on vehicles. As indicate Independent reports, the Polish system of vehicle control must be more effective.
4. Eco-tax is better than excise duty!
Environmental tax applies already 19 EU countries and another work on its implementation. Such a tax, which depends on the level of emissions by the vehicle, support the renewal of the fleet and must not be more severely than currently used, a disposable excise duty on passenger vehicles.
5. The system recycling for scrap!
We need mechanisms that increase the effectiveness of recycling end of life vehicles and to reduce the grey economy.
Conference "Synergy for development" was part of activities surrounding the Polish Presidency of the EU Council. At the same time the debate summarized first part taking nearly one and half, the program "Friendly Mobility", led by PZPM.
